Soja Wax

Soy Wax

Soy wax is a 100% natural and vegan wax used for making candles.
We at Mimsy Moo actually use it as standard. It is made from soybeans and is perfect for candle making.

WHAT IS SOY WAX MADE OF?
Soy wax is made from hydrogenated soy oil and is available in different forms (such as soy wax flakes). It is often considered more environmentally friendly compared to traditional paraffin wax.

THE SPECIFIC PROPERTIES OF SOY WAX

Texture: quite soft and pliable.
Colour: opaque white/beige.
Melting temperature: between 70 and 90 °C (160 to 200 °F).
Scent: natural/woodsy.

MAKING CANDLES WITH SOY WAX
Making soy wax candles is much more natural than paraffin wax, and still significantly cheaper than beeswax. A soy candle burns slower and cleaner (less soot) than some other types of wax.
Soy wax retains odors very well, so with this wax you can make wonderfully smelling scented candles.
However, coloring soy wax is different from paraffin or beeswax. Pigments do not dissolve in soy and provide more pastel colors.
Soy wax is also quite soft and pliable: it is softer than paraffin wax and has a lower melting temperature. It means that it is better to use soy wax to make Mimsy Moo candles!
